By law, Butkevičius’s asset and income declarations include his spouse’s holdings as well. Lithuanian officials must declare their own and their immediate family’s assets and income, ensuring that his wife’s property and income are reported in his disclosures.
Unlike some of his colleagues who are multi-millionaires, Algirdas Butkevičius has consistently declared only a few hundred thousand euros in total assets. His family’s net worth, as reported in official declarations, has generally been around the average for Seimas members (approximately €250–€300 thousand) and shows steady growth over the years without any abrupt, unexplained jumps.

Algirdas Butkevičius’s wife, Janina Butkevičienė, had served on the supervisory council of the Lithuanian Power Plant (a major state-owned energy enterprise) until 2008. All of Butkevičius’s asset and income declarations legally include his spouse’s assets, and Janina Butkevičienė has continued working in her own professional career, factors that align with the relatively modest scale of the Butkevičius family’s declared wealth.
