In the interim between high-profile public offices, Šukys also engaged in private business. From 2019, he was listed as the director of a small hospitality company, Pasažo smuklė, UAB (a Klaipėda-based pub/restaurant venture with €2,500 share capital). He presumably resigned that post upon re-entering the Seimas in late 2024, since MPs cannot concurrently manage a private company.

Šukys disputed the report’s veracity and in 2019 sued the VSD, alleging that the false allegations in it derailed his reappointment for a second term as Seimas Ombudsman.

As a Member of Seimas and state official, Šukys’s earnings have come primarily from public-sector salaries. For example, in 2017 a rank-and-file MP’s gross monthly pay was about €2,530 (≈€1,980 net). By late 2024, after legal reforms linking politicians’ pay to average wages, an ordinary Seimas member’s pay had roughly doubled (net ~€3,780/month). In his current role as First Deputy Speaker, Šukys earns a higher salary (on the order of ~€5,200 gross, or over €3,500 net, per month, by estimation).
