Ilona Gelažnikienė’s victory in the Žiemgalos rytinė single-member constituency in 2024 represented a significant political shift in that district. By contrast, in 2024 Gelažnikienė led the first round (35.66% of the vote) and went on to decisively win the second round (defeating the TS-LKD candidate Donatas Dilys with roughly two-thirds of the vote).
