In the 2020 parliamentary elections, Gedvilas ran as a candidate with the Freedom and Justice party (Laisvė ir teisingumas), but the party won only about 2.06% of the national vote – securing just one single-seat mandate – so he did not enter the Seimas in 2020.
In his 2024 asset declaration, Gedvilas (together with his wife) reported total family assets worth about €241,400, largely in real estate – a nearly sevenfold increase in their real estate investments over the previous four years.
In his asset declaration for 2024, Gedvilas reported owning apartments valued at €60,000, other buildings (garden house, garage, etc.) worth €7,000, land plots worth €137,000, vehicles totaling €17,000, and other valuables (art, jewelry) worth €400. He also listed €15,000 in bank savings, and his wife declared €5,000 in cash; no liabilities were indicated.
Between 2020 and 2024, Gedvilas’s real estate holdings grew at an unusually rapid pace: for example, the declared value of his land assets jumped from €20,000 in 2020 to €137,000 in 2024 (nearly a sevenfold increase), and his cash savings rose from €3,000 to €15,000 (a fivefold jump). Local media described this surge in wealth as “stebėtinai sparčiai” (surprisingly fast), noting the lack of any obvious extraordinary income to explain it.
In the 2020 declaration (four years earlier), his declared assets were much smaller: land plots valued at €20,000, apartments at €40,000, other structures at €2,500, vehicles at €21,000, and only €3,000 in savings. Notably, his spouse had declared no assets in 2020.
He served as a volunteer soldier in the National Defence Volunteer Forces and participates in blood donation programs.
He used to give lectures to students about healthy living, positive thinking, physical activity, and healthy nutrition.
He has also taken on community leadership roles in residential property management: Gedvilas is listed as the chairman (pirmininkas) of two homeowners’ associations in Klaipėda – one called “Židinys” at Liepojos g. 22 and another “Lanka” at Liepojos g. 24 (indicating he is the elected head of these apartment building communities).
After being elected in 2024, Gedvilas stated: “Lithuania needs young active people who go to the Seimas not to sit, but to act.”
He described himself as a patriot and noted that he had been a volunteer soldier in the National Defence Volunteer Forces for 10 years, saying he would defend Lithuania with arms if necessary.
He humorously noted that some voters (especially older women) told him, “we will definitely vote for that handsome one,” acknowledging that a candidate’s good looks can sway voters. However, Gedvilas emphasized that he intends to justify voters’ trust through sincere work rather than relying on appearance.
As of mid-2025, Gedvilas had not declared any meetings with registered lobbyists; the Transparency International “ManoSeimas” portal shows zero lobbying contacts reported for him during his time in the Seimas.
He confirmed that, as far as he knows, he is not related to any other Seimas members with the surname Gedvilas.
