The LSDP won the 2024 parliamentary elections with a total of 52 seats (20 from the multi-member party list and 32 in single-member constituencies), which ensured Baranovas secured a Seimas mandate via the party list despite his constituency loss.
As of 2025, a rank-and-file Member of Seimas receives roughly €5,800 gross per month (about €3,780 “in hand”) under the new salary law.
In his 2024 Seimas candidate financial disclosure, he reported about €46,590 in annual income and declared no real estate or other significant assets.
He served as a municipal councilor in 2023–2024, during which council members in Lithuania began receiving a stipend (around €1,150 gross per month on average in 2024).
In April 2025, he acknowledged that his committee remarks might have given the impression that Ukrainians did not want a “Nemuno aušra” representative in a delegation, and he clarified that no such signal was actually given by the Ukrainian side.
He is interested in literature and sports.
He speaks English and Russian fluently, and also some Polish.
He completed training at a sports school and remains an active sports enthusiast, regularly playing and following basketball and football.
